WEEK 3: SKELETON

WEEK 3

I think this was the easiest section of this project. All I had to do was draw up the stencil I made on computer of the girl onto the canvas which I am using to paint on.

I guess now it is a reality.

Although I didn't take any photos before I drew on the flora surrounding her, I spent a bit of time on the layout and arrangement of the flora. Some of the things I involved in the deciding process of where to put what, was what I wanted to show off and what I wanted to hide. Although I may have been comfortable enough to draw the face and body, drawing hands (especially painting) is a whole new level for me and I didn't want to be super ambitious and make too much work for myself.

So ultimately, I decided to cut the hands completely out of the painting and instead cover them with plants. I wondered if by doing this I would be fulfilling my goal of being able to draw/paint people better? Some people might argue no, but in fact it makes the process so much smoother because I don't have to focus on all the elements/body parts, so I will be able to put in stronger detail and more time needed into the face and body.

But for now, I decided to leave it and focus on the plants. I wasn't too worried in this step, I kind of just looked at my previous sketches of it and just roughly followed it, changing a few leaves/layouts here and there and after not long, it was done!

So far everything was coming along smoothly and going perfectly to plan.

The only thing left to do now, is to paint it.
