MID REFLECTION REVIEW
I've been painting and drawing for the majority of my life and I often look back and think, 'Am I really living up to the standard that I should be at? After all these years?'
So far, there have been a few ups and downs with this project. For the most part, the simple answer to my question above is yes, we tend to judge ourselves much harder than we need to and we don't realize that. I am definitely proud of what I've done so far!
Am I painting the way I intended to?
Each section I've completed up to this point now (week 5) has been successful, although some changes had been made, I am happy with how it is going.
I am also happy with the style I've been painting, again so far everything intended is going well. However, now I am slowly falling behind in my painting schedule because of time issues with work, other uni work and other factors too.
Is everything going to plan? If not, why?
Because of time issues, I now have to change around the rest of my posts and try to fit in as much painting as I can into the few weeks I have left. As much as I want to finish the painting, I don't want to risk messing it up or 'rushing' through it just to get it done. It would be nice to have the finished project by the end of this semester but I am going to paint the rest at a steady pace that fits my day to day life.
If something has gone wrong, how did I overcome that barrier?
I am going to change the rest of the way that I'm painting and splitting it into 2 parts; the rest of the plants and flowers, and trying to paint the girl right. However, I'm only going to work at my own pace.
Have I made any changes that affect the overall vision of the art?
Overall, not really, everything on the canvas (in my opinion) is looking great!
After a day of finishing an element of the painting, am I still satisfied with the result?
So far yes, every single element that I have completed up until this point is great, and after some time I really like it and am looking forward to finishing it.
If I'm still not happy with it, how am I going to deal with it?
I think the only thing to do if i become unhappy with the painting is to just take a little break and step away from the painting. I've learned in the past that continuing to work on paintings when you're not happy makes you stressed and you end up ruining it altogether. Sometimes, having a break or nap is the best thing to do for your productivity.
