WEEK 7
This week has been a mess, it was supposed to be me finishing all the leaves and plants off, and then starting and finishing all the flowers surrounding the girl so that I could actually start on the most difficult part/the centre of the painting; the girl!
However I was only able to get half a day of painting which ultimately ended up being two things sorta done:
1. The dark snake plant in the bottom left corner of the painting. After a few layers I got it too the right darkness, however, I wasn't able to add a cool faded light green detailed pattern to because time ran out which sucks because It would've looked really cool like something like this.
2. The Big flowers. I felt really good about starting the first layers for the flowers, the red-orange-yellow gradients finally made it more exciting and vibrant opposed to me painting the same colour green over and over... but unfortunately that's as far as i got. Whenever I finish off a base layer, I'll always go over it 2-3 times to make sure everything's filled and to make sure the paint is spread evenly out. But as soon as I left the base layer to dry, I ended up being jam-packed with work and personal events that replaced the only free time in the week that I usually spent painting.
This went on for a lot longer than I thought. All the time that I thought i had to paint vanquished and I came to a realization that I was falling behind quickly. I ended up taking a moment to think, and reread my proposal - the week 6 section:
"This week is going to be hectic, I'm going to try finish all the Flora & flowers surrounding the girl in the painting following the style I've developed into."
After reflecting on this, it also made me down-buzz and feel bad about not giving enough time to this project/painting, and instead of focusing on it, I went in the opposite direction and stopped painting for a little while altogether. Now, I can definitely feel a lot more pressure (as I wrote in my mid-reflection post) and my major problems now involve trying to find time to spend painting, especially before the final weeks of uni and also currently dealing with my job by helping work moving to a new location.
However, like the quote at the top of the page, things don't always work out the way you want, but if there's anything I've learned it's that they can still work, just in a different way.
